Artist Statement

I have always been fascinated by modern art, pop art and most recently street art. I am currently using those elements, including LED-based “neon”, enamel paints, and alcohol-based ink, to create a body of work I refer to as “Let there be light”.

Howard Weliver has been interested in the arts his entire life. Graduating from Stephen f. Austin State University in 1992 with a B.F.A. in Advertsing Design with a minor in photography, and then a M.A. In Design Communications, he has spent the majority of the last 25 years in Commercial Arts. Through Graphic Design, he has incorporated some of influences (Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean Basquiat) into a unique artistic style.

Originally from Texas, he discovered Taos, New Mexico after taking a 11 year break from art to start a restaurant/bar branding company (Nosh Creative) while traveling with his wife, Lauren, in there motorhome (Nosh Bus)
